Son of Lawrence G. Davis who resided in Bountiful, Utah.

Raymond served as a Major & Pilot on B-17G #43-38237, 527th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Davis County, Utah prior to the war.

B-17G #43-38237 (#1) took off from Kimbolton, England on a bombing mission over Bonn, Germany. During this mission multiple B-17's were hit by enemy anti-aircraft flak.

While returning to base B-17G #43-38237 (#1), which was damaged by flak, and was below B-17G #43-38955 (#2) in formation, lost control and collided with (#2) and the propeller's of (#1) cut off the nose of (#2) causing them (#1) to crash near Westerwald, Germany during the war.

Raymond was "Killed In Action" in this mid-air collision during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Holland (Netherlands) and was later repatriated here on February 7, 1949.
