FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GEORGE BRINKERHOFF
(Special Correspondence)
Thurber, April 13. — The funeral of George Brinkerhoff, who died at his home here March 23, was held in the ward meetinghouse March 25, under the direction of the ward bishopric. There was a large attendance, people coming from the various parts of the stake. The speakers were President Joseph Eckersley and Moroni Lazenby of the stake presidency, Bishop R. A. Meeks, C. D. Porter and Wm. J. Snow of Thurber, Geo. Chappell of Lyman and H. J. Wilson of Teasdale, all of whom spoke of the noble and praiseworthy character of the deceased. The choir furnished appropriate music at the service and cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful. The grave was dedicated by his son, W. D. Brinkerhoff.
Geo. Brinkerhoff was the son of James and Sally Ann Brinkerhoff, born at Centerville, Utah, Oct. 29, 1852, where he lived until 10 years of age, when he went with his parents who were called to southern Utah on the Muddy mission. He grew up as a pioneer, he helped to pioneer Wayne county, which place has since been his home. He held positions of civil and religious trust. After serving in the capacity of Bishop of Thurber ward he spent 26 months as a missionary in the eastern states, later serving another period as bishop. He is survived by Mrs. Viola and Mrs. Estella Brinkerhoff, Mrs. Leona B. Coleman of Teasdale, Misses Mabel, Minnie, Ruby and Grace Brinkerhoff of Thurber, Geo. C., Royal J., Willard D. and Edwin Brinkerhoff.

Following the death of his father, James Brinkerhoff, in Glendale, Utah in 1875, George, along with his mother, Sally Ann Snyder Brinkerhoff; brothers, Levi and Willard; and sister, Mary Ann and her husband, Jeremiah Stringham, moved to present-day Wayne County. They arrived in Rabbit Valley in 1877, settling along the Fremont River near Thurber, Utah.
He married Rosanna Viola Cutler, a daughter of Theda Ann Morton and Royal James Cutler, on November 5, 1879 in the Saint George Temple. They are the parents of eight children.
Four years after his marriage to Viola, George took a second wife, Ida Estella Cutler, also a daughter of Theda Ann Morton and Royal James Cutler. They were married December 3, 1883 in the Saint George Temple. They are the parents of seven children.
George died at his homestead near Thurber, Utah on March 23, 1915. He was 62.
Surviving were his wives, Viola and Estella; children, Leona Coleman, George C. Brinkerhoff, Royal Brinkerhoff, Willard Duain "Dee" Brinkerhoff, Mabel Brinkerhoff, Minnie Brinkerhoff, Edwin Brinkerhoff, Ruby Brinkerhoff, and Grace Brinkerhoff; sisters and brothers, Janette Leavitt, Levi Brinkerhoff, Hyrum Brinkerhoff, and Willard Brinkerhoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six of his children, Julia Ann Brinkerhoff, Theda Ann Brinkerhoff, Elvina Brinkerhoff, Edna Brinkerhoff, Frank Brinkerhoff, and Viola Brinkerhoff; sisters and brother, Hannah Brinkerhoff, Mary Ann Stringham, and James Brinkerhoff.
