Patrick Calvert was one of the earliest settlers and largest land owners in Posey County. A church known as Calvert's Chapel once existed about six miles south of Cynthiana on what is now Big Cynthiana Road. All that remains today is the cemetery. In Daniel's time papers reported news about people living in that area as being from Calvert's Chapel, but no town or formal community by that name ever existed.
