Chatman Alberts was one of twelve children born to James Earl Alberts and Phalby Sara Copper. He grew up in Lee County helping with the peanut farm owned by his parents. The Alberts' peanuts and peanut brittle was famous around central Texas. In 1938 he joined the US Army and served in WWII until 1946. In 1950 he married Ozell Cameron who had two sons, James and Poppa. They had one daughter, Henietta who was born in Lee County in 1951. In 1964 Chatman was killed in an auto accident. He was preceded in death by his brothers Morty (Buster) and James Earl Jr and sister Minerva. He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, James Earl and Phalby Sara Alberts, his brothers Fred, Dan, Moses, Henry, Amos, and sisters Mary, Ursula, and Priscilla (Sissy). And his wife Ozell and daughter Heniretta, many neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.
