NEW WATERFORD - Agnes C. Remish, 91, formerly of New Waterford died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Essex I of Salem.

Mrs. Remish was born Feb. 21, 1918, in New Waterford, a daughter of the late John and Agnes Russell Blazvick and had lived in this area all of her life.

Agnes, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Johnnie's Radio and Appliance Store in East Palestine for more than 20 years. She also worked for the Truck Stops of America in North Lima.

Agnes was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in East Palestine where she was a member of the choir, taught CCD, was a member of the Ladies Aide Society, SALT Team, and Christian Mothers. She was a substitute teacher for Our Lady of Lourdes School and was also a member of the East Palestine Amateur Radio Club where her call letters were K8CHL. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and writing poetry.

Her husband, John Remish, whom she married Nov. 26, 1936, died Sept. 3, 1999.

She is survived by her daughters, Janett (Karl) Remish-Dancik of St. Leonard's, Canada, Judith Ann Johnson of San Antonio, Texas, and Jaunita Sheerer of New Waterford; a son, Joseph (Kathy) Remish of Columbiana; 10 grandchildren, Brian (Deb) Graham, Bruce Graham, Shannon Johnson, Mitchell (Ellen) Johnson, Joseph (Kristie) Remish, Jr., Jeffery (Dawn) Remish, Jereld (Laura) Remish, Cynthia (Ron) Carlson and William Sheerer, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Agnes Remish; sons, John and James Remish; four sisters, Anna Vinoverski, Mary Kliner, Ella Almond and Wilma Blazvick; three brothers, Peter, George and Joseph Blazvick; a grandson, Christopher Graham, and a great-granddaughter, Alaina Remish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Cipar officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
