Andrew and Sarah were the parents of 11 children, 9 who survived to adulthood. They raised their family in Circleville, Illinois (now defunct) where Andrew ran a general store. He was one of a few to obtain a license from the state of Illinois to sell "domestic remedies" or medications in 1897. (Annual Report of the State Board of Pharmacy of Illinois, Volume 15, 1897)
Andrew was a witness at the infamous 1869 trial of Ike Berry who shot and killed Tazewell County deputy, Henry Pratt while he was in the process of attempting to arrest members of the Berry Gang.
After his wife, Mary, died in 1874 Andrew married for a second time to Margaret Richardson on Jun 22, 1875 in Tazewell County.

Research is indicating that the surname may have been spelled Ditman or Dittman. It appears in various newspaper articles and census records with both spellings. However, family members that moved to Illinois appear to have spelled it as Ditmon according to their headstones. Family members that remained in Ohio appear to have spelled it as Ditman according to their headstones.
UPDATE: In receipt of Tazewell County land records with Andrew's signature. His signature is clear enough to read his last name was spelled as Ditmon.
