Tazewell Pioneer dies at G. Valley after Long Illness
Green Valley, June 6 - Mrs. Margaret Champion, widow of Thomas Champion and a resident of Tazewell County for many years, died at her home in Green Valley Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock, her death following an illness of long duration. She was born in Ohio in 1851 and her marriage to Thomas Champion occurred in 1869. Her husband died 24 years ago. For many years Mrs. Champion resided in Dillon township, but she had resided in Green Valley for the past 19 years. She was a member of the Methodist church, a Christian woman, highly esteemed by all who knew her. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Nora Parkin, Green Valley; Warren and Frank Champion, Pekin; Mrs. Florence Schaffer, Tremont; Grace Champion, Peoria; Mrs. Ora Clayton, Spring Lake; Mrs. Bessie Himberger, Lincoln; Bert Champion, Shelbyville and Thomas Champion, Green Valley. She also leaves one brother, Allen Dittman and three sisters. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Green Valley this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. Poore and burial was in the Green Valley cemetery.
