Woodville Pioneer Passes
The death occurred on Wednesday afternoon of Mrs Kate Lovell, relict of the late Mr William Lovell and a resident of Woodville for over 40 years. A friend to all, the late Mrs Lovell was noted far and wife for her many kind-hearted actions and numerous Woodville people who have suffered illness have been nursed back to health by her.
Mrs Lovell was born at North Frodingham, Yorkshire, on May 15, 1863 and came to New Zealand as a girl of 10 years, with her mother and three sisters. She was married to the late Mr William Lovell by Rev. Hamilton at Brookside Church on April 11 1885. After residing at Burnham and Bishop's Corner, Canterbury, the couple came to Woodville 43 years ago, settling on a property on Napier road. During the last seven years, Mrs Lovell has lived in Vogel street.
The late Mrs Lovell is survived by a family of two boys and four girls - Messrs Albert (Palmerston North), Leonard (Te Kuiti)' Mrs W. Howard (Hastings), J. Fowle (Ngaruawahia), G. Lee (Haco Valley) and Miss Doris Lovell (Woodville).
