GAFFNEY -- Martin Williams, 46, husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Nix Williams of 422 Ross St., died 9:05 p.m. Wednesday in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Native of Cleveland County, resident of Cherokee County for 15 years; son of the late Ed and Ophelia Jamerson Williams; member of the Salvation Army; retired from Musgrove Mill.
Also surviving: daughters, Maxine, Anne, Vickie, and Moree Williams, Mrs. Effie Harris, Mrs. Carolyn Messer and Mrs. Ophelia Blackwood of Gaffney; sons, John, Timothy, Daniel, and Martin Jr. of Gaffney; brothers, Robert and James Williams of Gaffney, Jesse of Camden, Coleman of Cherryville, N.C. and Julius Williams of Kings Mountain; sisters, Mrs. Irene Parris of Rock Hill, Mrs. Dot Padgett of Pineville, Ga., and Mrs. Sealy Coggins; 10 grandchildren.
Services 4 Saturday at the Salvation Army by Capt. Earl Woodward and Jack Edwards and the Revs. Cecil Grant and Clarence Hampton; burial in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jim Runion, Charlie Smith, Ronnie Harrill, James Allison, Sam Surratt and Robert Henderson.
Body is at the home.
