Betty W. Knowlton, 68, a resident of Valparaiso since 1961, died Monday in the Willows Rehabilitation Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1916 in Michigan, she was the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Olson) Whittaker. She was formerly an elementary school teacher in Lake County and Michigan City and was a member of the 39ers Club of Valparaiso and the 43rd Avenue Presbyterian Church of Gary. She attended Valparaiso University.
Surviving are three sons, Frederick Jr. of Oklahoma, and Ralph and Kenneth of Valparaiso; a daughter, Kathryn Garrison of Valparaiso; three grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Whittaker of Wisconsin; and a sister, Mary Jean Wentz of Alabama.
Memorial services 1 p.m. Saturday at Wetmore-Moeller Funeral Home; memorials to VU.
