Caroline Jean (Hughes) Painter, 73, of 302 S. Main St., Butler, formerly of Rural Valley RD1 died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1930 in Summerville to Lovic and Lessie (Dotson) Hughes.

Mrs. Painter a seamstress for the former Big River Manufacturing Co., maker of Don Moore Clothing, Kittanning and B&B Fashions of NuMine.

She was a Methodist.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking and playing bingo.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Everett W. Painter, whom she married Dec. 12, 1948; two sons, William E. Painter Sr. of Kittanning and Robert Painter of Fenelton; three grandsons, William E. Painter Jr., Christopher S. Painter and Gregory R. Painter; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, James Hughes of Washington, D.C. and Robert Hughes of McKinney, Texas; and one sister, Nancy Ellen Malveria of McKinney, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters.

PAINTER -- Friends of Caroline Jean (Hughes) Painter, 73, of 302 S. Main St., Butler, formerly of Rural Valley RD1, who died Aug. 14, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. John W. Snyder, pastor of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Mateer Cemetery, Boggs Township. Arrangements by Kennedy & Blodgett.
