Carl Edward "Eddie" Altman, 66, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday evening, March 28, 2009, at Satilla Regional Medical Center.

A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he had worked for the Pierce Shoe Factory until ill health forced him to retire. He was of the Baptist faith, lived and breathed farming, was an avid history buff, enjoyed watching western movies and dearly loved his grandchildren. He was a son of the late Jesse Columbus "J.C." Jr. and Cleo Eason Altman and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Courson Altman, Blackshear; two daughters, Rhonda Altman and her friend, Shorty Anderson and Regina Altman and her fiance', Donald Reeves Jr., all of Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Brandi Altman, Blackshear; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Ted Heintz and Linda and Jerry Watkins, all of Blackshear; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" and Lynn Altman, Blackshear; eight grandchildren, Shelby Chyenne Anderson, Jaycee Anderson, Gage "Will" Hickox, Dillion Reeves, Wesley Reeves, Heath Reeves, Kayla Altman and Robert Altman Jr. and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Waters Cemetery.
