We found this broken tombstone in this remote cemetery in Martin Twp., McLean County, Illinois 4-2-2009. As I researched the Gillan name, I have learned the Gillan family owned property 4-5 miles south of Colfax, that is just about where this cemetery is located. (OP Hutchcraft)

Additionally, in researching Elizabeth's final resting place, an email was received from McLean County Genealogical Society Corresponding Secretary, Cheryl Budde with some new information. (May 7, 2023)

Plymouth Cemetery is not in good condition; it was formerly known as Ritter Cemetery as it was near the Ritter house. The land for this cemetery was donated by James and Sarah McClure Gillan. James Gillan helped to organize the church there and when Sarah died in 1880, she was buried there.

Elizabeth Gillan Morris Ray's obituary is filled with information. Per the McLean County Marriage records, Elizabeth Gillian (sp) Morris married Hugh W. Ray 1869-09-22; book K/0066; license #10408.
