John J. Kautzer
John J. Kautzer, 87, of 711 Chicago St., Kiel, died Wednesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where he had been a patient for five weeks.
He was born Dec. 31, 1894 in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, a son of John and Bridiget Fitzeck Kautzer. He attended St. Gregory Catholic School at St. Nazianz.
He married Mary Schnell Dec. 30, 1918 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. They resided in Kiel. Mrs. Kautzer died in 1942.
He married Irma Dedering June 29, 1946. They lived in Kiel. She died in 1972. Mr. Kautzer was employed at Kiel Wooden Ware until retirement in 1960.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and its Holy Name Society.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Loyal (Gladys) Wettstein of Kiel and Mrs. Donald (Ethel) Clarke of Los Banos, Calif.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Edmund Kautzer of New Holstein;
and three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Schnell of rural Kiel, Mrs. Elsie Dedering of Kiel and Mrs. Frieda Schnell of St. Nazianz. He was preceded in death by three brothers, and six sisters.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Family rites will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. Francis Kerscher, pastor, will be celebrant of the Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday. A wake service will be held there at 8 Friday evening.
