GREGORY - At his residence, Fox street, on Monday, 4th inst., George Gregory; aged 81 years.
Obituary An old resident of Hawke's Bay, Mr George Gregory, passed away at his residence in Fox street on Monday evening. He was a first cousin of the late General Booth and about the same age.
It is over fifty years since Mr Gregory, who was born in England, landed in New Zealand and he had spent most, if not all, of the years since in Napier, Waipawa and Woodville. He had some very vivid remembrances of the times of the Maori wars, the precautions taken and the fight at Omarunui,
After residing for some time in Waipawa he removed to Woodville on the death of his first wife and has remained here in quiet retirement ever since. Some time ago he had a severe fall which injured him severely and he never recovered from the shock and hurts, but passed away on Monday night. He leaves two grown up sons by his first wife and also a widow, sister to Mrs H. T. Perkins of Woodville.
. (Martha's sister Elizabeth Jones 1854-1937 married Henry Thomas Perkins in 1876)
Thanks Mr and Mrs G. A. Gregory, of Ti Rangi, Napier, desire to thank all kind friends for their sympathy and kindness in their late sad bereavement, especially Mr and Mrs John Scott; also for all letters, telegrams and cards.
