DETROIT, Mich. – Tommie Lee James Sr., 71, died April 10, 2004, at Mt. Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years and was honorably discharged as a master sergeant. He taught ROTC in the Detroit Public Schools. He worked for U.S. Post Office for more than 28 years. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Detroit.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today(April 17) at Mt. Olivet M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie Orr officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Westbrooks Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Peters James of Detroit; a son, Tommie Jr. and wife, Brenda; a granddaughter, Angelique; seven brothers, George Jr., Sidney, Raymond and wife, Elaine, Earl and wife, Cassie, Garfield and wife, Pat, Sylvester and wife, Mary, and Willie Earl; three sisters, Celeste, Lucille and husband, Doug, and Marie.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services.
