MEMPHIS – Sidney Lee ""Hot Rod"" Garth Sr., 69, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, in Monroe County. He was born October 12, 1944, to the late George Garth and Lethia White Garth in Monroe County. He was a member of Macedonia M.B. Church in Memphis and a retired employee of the City of Memphis.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Maclin (Mario), Terry Love and Dominique Garth, all of Memphis, and Paula Gilleylen (Dewayne) of Amory; four sons, Sidney Garth Jr. of Okolona, Antonio Garth of Chicago, Toland Garth and Tony Garth, both of Amory; three sisters, Betty Ward Adams (Gregory), Lillian Simmons, Mary Lucille Ruff, all of Wren; three brothers, Early Garth (Cassie), Garfield Garth Sr. and Leroy Garth (Elaine), all of Aberdeen; 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Willie James, Tommie James and George Garth Jr.

Services will be Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Union Grove United Methodist Church in Wren with the Rev. Willie K. Orr officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet M.B. Church Cemetery. Williams Memorial Funeral Home of Okolona is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
