Joseph Gilsdorf, 81, of the town of Rhine, passed away Monday afternoon after a short illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1866, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Gilsdorf, in the town of Rhine, and he operated a farm there until his retirement a few years ago.

He was married to Margaret Dorn on June 25, 1895, at St. Mary's Catholic church at Hilbert, and in 1945 the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Survivors are his wife; five children, Norbert on the homestead farm, Arthur and George of Fond du Lac, Anthony of Muskegon, Mich.; and Miss Cecelia of Bear Creek, Wis. Two children died in infancy.

Mr. Gilsdorf was a former member of the Kiel Branch of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic church in Kiel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral home at Kiel and at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic church with Father F. X. Kheil officiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning this evening.

Members of the Holy Name Society of St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic church will recite the Rosary at the church at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
