Joseph Gilsdorf Sr. passed away at his old homestead now owned by his son, Joseph
Gilsdorf Jr., last Thursday afternoon from a lingering kidney disease. He was born March 11th 1838 in Preussen, Koblenz, Kreuswachs-Weiler at Bumgen, Germany and came to America where they settled in Germantown, Washington County where he was employed as a carpenter before he moved to Town Rhine. He was married in 1855 to Elizabeth Haeir who preceded him in death in 1897. They had four children of which three are still living namely; Heinrich of Hilbert; Joseph on the homestead and Mrs. Heinrich Schnell of Rockville.
A brother, Andrew, went to Minnesota. Another brother, Mathias went to Nebraska.
