Death of Aged Buckman Resident Follows Lingering Illness; Burial Was at Buckman Saturday
The death of John Janson, a well known Morrison county pioneer, died Wednesday morning, Jan 9, at nine o'clock at his home at Buckman. Death was due to cancer of prostate with which he suffered for some time. During the last two weeks his illness became more serious until death occurred.
John Janson was born in Walzbeld, Baden, in 1845, and at the time of his death he was 83 years of age. He was married at Hornberg, Baden, 53 years ago. His wife preceded him in death two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Janson came to America in 1884 and moved onto a farm five miles southeast of Buckman. They lived there until 14 years ago when they retired from farming and moved to Buckman village where they lived until death called them.
The deceased is survived by the following children: Mike Janson of Granite, Joseph Janson and Mrs. Nick Daniel of Buckman, Daniel of Weaverly, Minn., John of White Lake, S.D., Peter of Janesville, Minn., Mrs. Theresia Vandenheavel of Gilman, Wis., Mrs. Alois Preuscher and Miss Catherine Janson of Minneapolis, Sister Manerta O.S.B. of St. Cloud and Miss Regina at home. A brother Stephan Janson resides in Michigan.
On Saturday morning at 10 o'clock burial service were held in St. Michael church at Buckman and interment was in the cemetery at that place.
