Corrine Akins "Coe" Pinson entered into eternal life on February 24, 2008, at the age of 88 years. Born June 4, 1920, she was the 10th of 17 children of Martin Luther and Beulah Mae Akins of McCaulley, Texas. A graduate of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX, she later received the Master of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Having served churches in Texas, Mrs. Pinson was later called to the staff of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, and then twice served as Religious Education Director of Ruhama Baptist Church in Birmingham. She was also employed by the national headquarters of the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU). Later, she received additional training at Samford University in Birmingham and served the Birmingham Board of Education as a school teacher for 20 years, retiring in 1987.

Mrs. Pinson's life was marked by an unwavering attitude of Christian service to both the local church and international missions. She was a "people person" whose constant desire was to honor God by meeting the needs of others, making a positive impact wherever she went. Her abiding passions were family and faith. She served the Ruhama Baptist Church for over 50 years in both vocational and volunteer positions. Over the last seven years, she has been a member of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA, where she has served as a Sunday School teacher, International Women on Mission leader, and with the WMU. She will be greatly missed.
