He resided in New York County, New York prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on July 11, 1941, prior to the war, in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.
B-17F #41-24384 took off from 7-Mile Drome near Port Moresby on a reconnaissance / administrative flight to Merauke and Horn Island, then was scheduled to return to 7-Mile Drome. After a radio check Twenty minutes after take off this B-17 was never heard from again.
Harry was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.

The records and the MACR are unclear as to what each Airman's assignment was on the B-17. The MACR lists Gen Ramey & LtCol Chaffin as the Pilot & Co-Pilot however that might have only been done because they were the ranking members of the flight.
There also was only one passenger on the flight and that was LCdr Mannoccir.
