.Lonnie E. Slade, 89, of Hawkinsville, Ga. died Monday, March 31, 2014 in Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Ga. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Rev. Blake Westbrook officiating.
Mr. Slade was a native of Pulaski County, Ga. a member of the Baptist faith and attended Blue Springs Baptist Church. He was a former partner of the Dixie Bonded Warehouse & Grain Co. and on the Board of Directors for Middle Georgia EMC for 30 years. He was a former member of the Hawkinsville Lion's Club. Lonnie was instrumental in the founding of Baker Academy and also served on the Board of Directors. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. O. and Elizabeth Holt Slade and his wife, Ora Lee Cheek Slade.


Pallbearers will be John Brady, Slade Bloodworth, Phillip Martin, Carlton Bray, Alfred Carr, Rence Cheek and Rob Ryan.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
