Mr. Slade was a native of Pulaski County, Ga. and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville, Ga. He was self-employed owner of the City Package Store and Slade Bonded Warehouse. Joe was a veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theater and a member of the 207th Military Police for 5 years. Mr. Slade was married to his wife, Olene, for 62 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph O. and Elizabeth Holt Slade and daughter, Diane Slade Foley of Dunwoody, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Olene Y. Slade of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Debbie Slade of Marietta, Ga.; granddaughter, Farrah Foley of Canton, Ga.; grandson, Christopher Foley also of Canton, Ga.; sister, Edith Slade Nelson of Hawkinsville, Ga.; brother, Lonnie E. Slade of Hawkinsville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
