Lt. Abraham Myers was wounded at the Big Creek Gap skirmish in Tennessee on 14 March 1862. A few days later on the 20 March 1862 he died. The records department mustered him out on 25 March 1862 with the reason "died of wounds." He was married to Phebe Altamira Simmons on 13 March 1853 in Clairborne County, Tennessee. He left 4 orphans: James, Mariah, Samuel and Narcisus Jane. His wife applied for a pension when he died.
