Steven Robert "Steve" Forbes, 24, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at home after a brief illness.
Born in West Chester, he was the beloved son of Robert Henry and Carol Harman Forbes.
Steve was a 2003 graduate of Downingtown Senior High School. He attended Parsons School of Design in New York and Penn State University, Berks Campus.
He was employed as a server for the Olive Garden for four years and was also a manager-in-training at the restaurant.
Steve was a member of the Downingtown United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the church's youth group from 1999 to 2002 and participated in the Red Bird Kentucky mission trip in 2000 and the Savannah, Ga., mission trip in 2001.
While in high school, he was a member of the Downingtown Senior High School Master Works Chorus and Vocal Ensemble. He was also a member of the Chester County co-ed volleyball team from 2002 to 2004.
Among his interests were painting, photography, music and enjoying his convertible BMW.
In addition to his parents, Steve is survived by his brother, Christopher B. Forbes, at home; sister, Stephanie A. Forbes of Caln; and by his paternal grandmother, Sarah Forbes of West Chester.
To know Steve, was to love him. He was full of love, laughter and life. Although his life was all too brief, he lived it to the fullest.
Steve never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. He was the light in so many lives. Above all else, we will miss his smile.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Downingtown United Methodist Church, 751 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown.
