Gatewood died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in Lamb County Healthcare Center.
He was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Vernon. He married Louise Stuart on July 10, 1941, in El Paso. He moved to Sudan from Odell in 1937. He was a member of the Sudan Rotary Club. He was a 1936 graduate of Odell High School. He attended the University of Texas in Austin.
He owned Gatewood Motor Co. in Sudan and Earth. He was a farmer. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald Stuart and Gary Grant Sr., both of Sudan; a daughter, Glenna Anne Bridwell of Houston; a sister, Doris Warren of Jackson, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
