CALDWELL --- Herman Starr, 83, of Ridge Avenue, Caldwell, died Saturday morning, January 8, 1994, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Starr was born July 25, 1910, in Batesville and served as Noble County clerk of courts from 1941 to 1945. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Ohio Department of Transportation and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union. Mr. Starr was a member of Caldwell Presbyterian Church, Noble Lodge 459 F & AM of Caldwell, Valley of Cambridge Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Cumberland Chapter 116, Caldwell Council 21, Cambridge Commandry 47, Dwight Warehime Mark Lodge 3 and the Noble County Scottish Rite Club.
Surviving are a cousin, Frank Starr of Milan, Mich., and several other cousins; a brother-in-law, Harry Kemp of Caldwell; and special friends, Jim and Nancy Clark, with whom he made his home the past three years.
He was preceded in death by his paretns, Elias and Addie Ada Carpenter Starr; his wife, Oneda Emily Stallings Starr, whom he married Nov. 26, 1936, and who died June 27, 1983; and one sister, Mildred Kemp.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East St., Caldwell, where Noble Lodge 459 will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Kettlewell officiating. Burial will be in Friend's Cemetery in Quaker City.
