Elpenice was a daughter of Reverend Samuel and Margaret (Torrans) Stanford. She married Joseph Moore and they had children Samuel, Margaret, Walter, William, Maria, Martha and possibly others. The family was living at Fort Brooke, a military outpost at Tampa Bay, Florida, in 1850. Elpenice died in the Gulf of Mexico.
