Charles Milner son of Mary Milner and Joseph Burdin, and Grandson of Thomas Milner and Elizabeth Seaton. He was born in Mattersey, Nottinghamshire England. He was Christened on Feb. 4, 1816 at Mattersey. Unlike other members of the Milner family, he shod people instead of horses. Records say he was a shoemaker or Cordwainer. He married Ann Jackson. They had 1 son William Henry Milner born in 1841 in Mattersey. Ann died in August of 1848 and Charles in October. Their son was raised by relatives. He is living with his Laycock grandparents in one census and his father's sister Ann Milner Drinkell in another. The line continued when William Henry married Eleanor Booth, daughter of George Booth and Hannah Woodward.

His Mother's siblings included: Ann, Elizabeth, John , George, Thomas, William , and Ann.
