She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Skeedee, Okla., a daughter of William and Maude Jones Drake. She moved with her parents to Crow Agency at the age of 6 months, attending local schools before graduating from Hardin High School in 1935.
Hazel married Elvin Peely Davis on May 25, 1935, in Crow Agency and the couple lived in Big Horn County. Peely died in 1976.
She was a member and church clerk of the First Baptist Church in Crow Agency and Hardin for over 60 years. She was the Big Horn County Senior Citizen of the year in 1989, secretary-treasurer of the Heritage Acres Auxiliary from 1987, a 10-year 4-H leader, Past Worthy Matron of the Jasmine Chapter Order of Eastern Star and was an adviser to the Bluebirds, Campfire and Rainbow girls.
Hazel worked for the Big Horn County Treasurer's office for three years, before beginning a 27-year career with Big Horn and First Interstate Bank of Hardin.
Her parents; husband; daughters Violet Ziler and Vivian Davis; sisters Gertrude Denny and Opal Flori; and brothers Darrell, Howard, Ira and Jimmy Drake preceded Hazel in death.Survivors include her daughter Clarice (Dick) Martin of Billings; a son, Ronald (Ann) Davis of Alabama; a sister, Bette Chimienti of Washington; son-in-law, Joe Ziler; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Church Ladies, Jasmine Chapter O.E.S. or the Big Horn County Historical Museum.
