Arthur Lincoln Palmer - Arthur L. Palmer died Saturday night shortly after midnight, aged 55 year. Funeral services were held at the family home on East Washington Avenue Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Reverend O. I. Hinson, pastor of the M. E. Church, South, read the Twnety third Psalm and offered a prayer and Messrs. Fred Nelson, S. H. Manchester, Raymond Demuth and E. H. Barrows sang "Lead Kindly Light." There was a large attendance of friends. The Masons then took charge of the body and conveyed it to the city cemetery and laid it to rest with burial service of that order. The pall bearers were Mssrs. F. W. Ploger, W. J. McMillen, J. A. Elliot, C. E. Windsor, O. L. Weissgerber and J. H. Wright. There were many beautiful floral offerings from Laclede Lodge No. 83, A.F.&A.M. Lebanon Chapter, Lebanon Commandery. Auglaize Lodge, I. O. O. F. Magnetic Council, Royal Arcanum and friends and neighbors. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, two daughter, Mrs. E. E. Elliott and Mrss Dorothy Palmer, and two sons, Richard A. Palmer and Stanley Palmer. One brother, Charlie Palmer, of Wagoner, Oklahoma and four sisters, Mrs. Joe Wallace, of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Mary P. Wallace, of Houston, Texas; Mrs. H. E. Dodge, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Mrs. W. G. Gibbons, of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mr. Palmer and Mrs. Gibbons attended the funeral. Arthur Lincoln Palmer was born in Madison, Wisconsin, January 19, 1860. He came to Lebanon in the 70's and has since resided here. On November 15, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Lou Wickersham. Mr. Palmer was for many years a clerk in Wallace Brothers' store. Later he became a partner with James Kapp in the furniture and undertaking business. In 1890 he purchased Mr. Kapp's interest in the business. Later A. J. Walser became a member of the firm but sold out to Mr. Palmer, who has since conducted the business. In the passing out of this life of Mr. Palmer, Lebanon loses a businessman and citizen of the highest integrity and one who numbered as his friends all who knew him. About 11 years ago Mr. Palmer was on his way from the store to his home, was struck by a Frisco passenger train at Washington Avenue Crossing and seriously injured from which he never fully recovered. When found by passing neighbors he lay unconscious in the ditch at the side of the track. Until a few months ago he was able to be at the store much of the time. Several weeks ago he and Mrs. Palmer went to Houston, Texas returning home Wednesday night of last week. Mr. Palmer was a member of the three branches of Masonry represented in this city, Auglaize Lodge No 192, I. O. O. F., and Magnetic Council, Royal Arcanum.
