ARCHIE MAYNARD, 89, of Princeton, W.Va., formerly of Kenova, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Princeton Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., by Elders Charles O. Adkins, Howard Maynard and Wornie Meeks. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. He was born December 30, 1919, in Wilsondale, W.Va., a son of the late Dewey and Charity Tomblin Maynard. Archie was a retired Safety Director for Consolidated Coal. He was also a member of the Philadelphia United Baptist Church, a 50-year member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge #60 AF&AM, as well as Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston. His wife, Mary Spry Maynard also preceded him in death, along with a brother, Obie Maynard and wife Ollie Maynard, as well as some infant siblings. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Grose and husband Marvin, a son, Charles Maynard and wife Nina, all of Princeton; two brothers, William R. Maynard and wife Marilyn of Nashville, Tenn.,and Herb Maynard of Florida; three grandchildren, Lori Leggett and husband John of Chesterfield, Va., Chuck Maynard and fiancée Kim Conner of Spanishburg, W.Va., Kevin Maynard and wife Wendy of Huntington, W.Va.; five great grandchildren, Hunter Miller, J.D. Berry, Jordan Maynard, Makaila Maynard and Matthew Maynard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Philadelphia United Baptist Church in Lavalette, or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
