Mrs. Elizabeth Steele, 80, of 421 East Pierce street, Macomb, passed away at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 18 in St. Francis hospital after a week's illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Apr. at the Dodsworth-Piper chapel with the Rev. Colin Robertson officiating. Burial was in Gibson cemetery near Fandon.
Mrs. Steele was born March 8, 1871 in McDonough county, daughter of Jeptha and Lettie Tandy Steele. She spent most of her life in Macomb. On March 17, 1888 she was married to Alex Steele who is deceased.
She is survived by the following children: John, Ralph, Mrs. Opal Noel and Mrs. Oren Wares, all of Macomb; Mrs. Manuel Baker, Gulfport, Ill., and Otto and Fred Steele, both of Sciota. A daughter, Mrs. Clifford Steele, is deceased.
A brother, Earl Tandy of Macomb and sisters, Mrs. Anna Rippetoe of Kansas City, Mrs. Anna Featherlin of route four, Macomb, Mrs. Maude Coghill, Colchester and Mrs. Joe Sullivan, Macomb, also survive. Brothers, Frank, James and Edgar Tandy and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Cochran, are deceased. Twenty-four grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
