He was widely known for his coaching ability and for a time was assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma, which position he accepted after graduation from the university. Later he was for years a successful coach at Central State, Edmond, before he retired and went into farming at Newcastle.
Reeds was inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Mrs. Reeds taught school in Hobart during the WWI period and at one time was high school principal there.
