FORD, HARRISON H.
Died – At Jasper, Sept. 23D – Hon. H. H. Ford.
We have had no opportunity to get our late friend's age and birth place, and do not feel competent to do justice to the memory of so good a man. He was raised in Newton county, and served in the 1st Texas Regiment, of Hood's celebrated Brigade. He moved to Jasper several years after the war, previous to which, however, he represented Jasper and Newton counties in the legislature. He was editor and publisher of this paper for several years. Harrison Ford was one of the most unselfish men and consistent Christians we ever knew. If he had a fault, it was his carelessness for self interest and a devotion to the interest of the people among whom he lived. He had moved to Orange but a week or two and had come back to gather his crop. He was taken sick the evening he arrived and two weeks from that date, passed quietly away. He was buried Sunday morning, from the Methodist church. He leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. The heartfelt sympathy of the News-Boy is extended to his wife and children, mother, and relatives.
