The first verifiable record I find on Dr. John Irvin Gossett is census record 28 Jun 1900 Rick Township, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, which is now apparently a suburb of Oklahoma City. He is reported as a physician with a family, wife Bertha and daughters Mattie and Gracie.
The next record dated 29 Apr 1910 Bryan County, Oklahoma, John (Doctor, General Practice) is with wife Bertha and children Mattie, Gracie and son Vernon.
We find John must have entered some legal difficulty as reflected by census dated 3 Jan 1920 U.S. Jail, Muskogee County, Oklahoma in which he is noted as Prisoner, Physician, General Surgeon.
On the census dated 4 Apr 1930 Rule, Haskell County, Texas, John is married to widow Minnie Lee Hampton who's first husband Elisha Robert Crew died 23 Feb 1920. In the household are Crew children Viola, Bernice and Marvin.
