Gerald, known by the family as Teeny, was the son of George William & Edna Lee (Smith) Brown. He married Charlotte May Phillips on February 3, 1934. They had one child, Gerald, known as Jerry.
Gerald died in an auto accident on September 26, 1938. His obituary was published in the Centralia newspaper.

Gerald Brown Fatally Injured and Three Others Seriously Hurt in Crash on Highway Near Ethel
Gerald L. Brown, 27-year-old Centralian was fatally injured and three others were seriously hurt when a county-owned car collided this morning with another machine head-on near Ethel. Brown died in a Chehalis hospital a short while after being moved there from the scene of the accident. Injuries received by Brown included a fractured skull and crushed kidney and chest.
Earl Older, 26, of Salkum, driver of the other car, is in the St. Helens hospital at Chehalis in a serious condition. Hospital attendants would not state whether or not he would live. He is suffering from a punctured kidney and other internal injuries. His wife, who was with him in the car, received lacerations, cuts and bruises. Her condition was described as "not serious." R.L. Schuster, Centralia, driver of the county car, was being cared for at the hospital, suffering severely from shock. He was unable to give an account of the accident when questioned.
Three Others Unhurt
Other occupants of the county car, H.E. Thompson, Chehalis and George Bickle, Centralia, were not injured. Jack Barbeau Ethel, riding with the Olders, was also unhurt. The accident occurred, according to a story pieced together by State Patrolman Dick Held, as the county car rounded a corner in a slight fog. The driver apparently seeing the older car approaching, applied newly adjusted brakes, which apparently grabbed, throwing the county car into the path of the oncoming auto. Both cars were badly damaged, the county car rolling over twice on the pavement before coming to a stop. County Coroner W.D. Turner this afternoon had not completed his investigation of the accident and could not say whether an inquest would be held.

Brown, who resided at 1010 K. Street, was born in Centralia Sept. 18, 1911. He graduated from the local high school in 1928, and had been employed by the county eight years. He was a member of the Centralia camp of Modern Woodmen. Surviving the deceased are his wife, Charlotte; parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Brown, Centralia, and a brother, Loren, also residing here.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sticklin chapel, Rev. Earl Van Doren, pastor of the Christian church, officiating.
