Bride and Groom in the Seventies, Cupid's Love Dart Pierces Hearts of Aged Couple-Married Last Night-Mrs. Susan Oak Becomes the Bride of Konrad Ehrhardt of East Side-Two Met in Watertown Several Months Ago

A Case of love at first sight, one of those affairs of the heart which novelists write about has just resulted in the union of an aged Oswego man and a Watertown woman of about his own age. The nuptial knot was tied by the Rev. R. Kessler, pastor of the German Lutheran St. Paul's Church at the parsonage in East Sixth and Lawrence Streets. The bride is Mrs. Susan Oak, aged seventy-three and the groom Konrad Ehrhardt, spry as a man of fifty, boasts of being in his seventy-seventh year.

To the Rev. Mr. Kessler the couple talked freely of their meeting and courtship. They said that they first met at Watertown where Mr. Ehrhardt was visiting and where the bride was then living with her daughter. Mr. Ehrhardt said it was "just a case of love at first sight." He had been introduced to Mrs. Oak and they talked of their affairs and the loneliness of the lives they were living. It developed that both have been orphans for over half a century and the helpmate of each had died years ago. Mr. Ehrhardt is a very industrious man who lives in East Tenth near Albany Street and he works during the summer for Mr. Aften, the garden trackman. In the winter he makes baskets, a trade he learned when a boy. Mrs. Oak listened to his suggestion that a home of her own would be preferable to living with relatives, though she was happy with her daughter, and she finally agreed to again embark on matrimony's stormy sea.

Accordingly she came to Oswego a few days ago and remained with a friend of her daughter's. Last evening Mr. Ehrhardt led her to hymen's altar and they were made man and wife by the Rev. Mr. Kessler. Mrs. Ehrhardt's son, Jacob, and the latter's wife accompanied them and witnessed the ceremony. Both parties to the marriage are very respectable and look to be considerably younger than they claim to be. They will reside at Mr. Ehrhardt's home in East Tenth Street.
