Gradie Martin, 81, Rockville, died at 6:24 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Rockville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a homemaker. She was born May 3, 1927, in Litchfield, Ky., to the late Emory Decker and Phoebe Van Meter Decker.

Her husband of 48 years, Robert Paul Martin whom she married Oct. 25, 1945, in Rockville, died May 8, 1994.

Survivors include one son Larry "Dino" Martin and wife Paula, Rockville, six daughters, Kay Foxworthy, Rosedale, Sue (Charlie) Engle, Bellmore, Laura (Orville) Dickey, Greencastle, Connie (Henry) Griffin of Mecca, Janet (Ron) Cannon of Rockville and Jackie (Dave) Earnhart, Goshen, Ind., three brothers Hubert Decker, Vincennes, Frank Decker, Raleigh, N.C., and Richard Decker, Tucson, Ariz., 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son Dennis "Doc" Martin, in 1980, son-in-law Gary Foxworthy, three brothers and a sister.

She was a life member of the American Legion Fellenzer Post No. 48 auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Taylor Post 1752 auxiliary, 40 and 8 auxiliary and Order of the Easter Star Alamo Chapter 498. She was an active volunteer with the Parke County Unit of the American Cancer Society. She was a caterer for many events and was well known for her noodle making.

Services are 11 a.m., Friday, March 20, in Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Brother Paul Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery at Rockville. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at Gooch Funeral Home. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the charity of choice.
