— Harold F. Rodgers, 73, Greensburg, passed away Friday March 13 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana In-patient Facility in Columbus.
He was born Dec. 27, 1935 in Anderson, the son of Harold F. and Goldie L. (Crawley Glenn) Rodgers. His family moved to Greensburg shortly after his birth and lived there until 1954 when he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1969, he moved back to Greensburg. He worked first with New York Central Railroad, which merged into Penn Central Railroad, which then merged with CONRAIL for a total of 43 and a half years, retiring from CONRAIL in 1997.
He was a member of the Eagles since 1971, and became a Golden Eagle in July 2002. He was also a member of the National Association of Retired Railway Employees for eight years. He served in the National Guard from 1952 until 1959.
He married Eleanor Ann (New) Rodgers on July 13, 1957, in Rising Sun. She survives at the home.
He is also survived by one daughter, Kathleen (Larry) Perry of Streator, Ill.; one son, Michael Rodgers and his fiancé, Shirley Nye, Montpelier, Ohio; two sisters, Emma Jean Preston and Carolyn L. Herbert, both of Greensburg; two grandsons, Geoffrey (friend, Jill) Rodgers, Greensburg, and Ryan (Ashleigh) Rodgers, Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Barber and Lula Pearl Bryant; three brothers, Joseph M. Rodgers, Arnold L. Rodgers and Charles S. Rodgers; and one nephew.
Friends may call for visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
