Mr. Gauntt died Sunday morning, 21 June 1970, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
A native of Henderson County, he had lived most of his life in Nacogdoches. He was part owner of Banita Laundry & Dry Cleaners and a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ludy Collins Gauntt of Nacogdoches; a son, Ronald Earl Gauntt of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Jonnie Sue Gauntt of Nacogdoches; his father, F. W. Gauntt of Athens; a sister, Mrs. Edith Blood of Athens; and a brother, Jack Gauntt of Noble, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Cloudy, Roddy Brewer, Taylor Brewer, Felix Johnson, Franklin Jones and M. O. Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers are Douglas W. Gauntt, Weyland J. Gauntt and Arthur R. Blood Jr.
