Thomas W. Skidmore, Jr., 72, passed away in Bessemer, Alabama, Tuesday evening, January 11, 2000.
Born in Bellaire, Ohio, he moved to Satsuma as a child from his birthplace. He served over 40 years with the Merchant Marine. He was the youngest man to be licensed as a Chief Engineer in the Untied States Merchant Marine. He was a member of Lake Lodge No. 72 and O.E.S. No. 200. He enjoyed fishing as his favorite past time.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Caroline Skidmore of Pomona Park; family, Thomas W. Skidmore III and Linda Frank of Pomona Park; Steven Skidmore and Charlie Schreckendgust of Orlando; Connie and Glenn Ritchey of Daytona Beach; brothers and sisters, Donald Skidmore of Palatka, George Skidmore of Texas, Charles "Chuck" Skidmore of Pomona Park, Mary Wilkinson of Bostwick and Alberta Niles of San Mateo.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the funeral home with religious and fraternal ceremonies. Burial will follow in Eden Cemetery.
Visitation will be this evening, 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Floral tributes are gratefully accepted; however, those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, Putnam County Unit, P.O. Box 946, Palatka, Florida 32178.
