Wm C. Mahnke Funeral Services Were Thursday
Funeral services were conducted at St. John's Lutheran church in Beemer Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. for Wm C. Mahnke, 74 with Rev. Paul Stengel Jr. pastor of the church, officiating.
Mrs. Harland Raasch was organist and Harland Raach was soloist. He sang "Rock of Ages" and "Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me".
Pallbearers were, Orville Young, Melvin Young, Billy Mahnke, Eugene Mahnke, Gerald Mahnke and Gale Mars.
Interment was in the Beemer Cemetery.
William C. Mahnke was born Jan 31, 1893 in Beemer. His parents were Henry Mahnke and Louisa (nee Heller) Mahnke. He was baptized at his home by Rev. M. Leimer Feb. 19, 1893, and May 5, 1907 he was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer with Rev. T. H. Tegier officiating.
On Feb. 14, 1912, Mr. Mahnke was united in marriage with Barbara Raasch at the St. John's Lutheran church in Beemer, with Rev. J. H. Tegler officiating. The couple had five children, (Neola) Mrs. Herbert Wascher, Beemer; Delbert Mahnke, Oakland; Milford Mahnke, Craig; (Elvira) Mrs. Herbert Toelle, Beemer and Orland Mahnke, Fremont. At the time of his death he was a member of St. John's Lutheran church. He died Dec. 26 at the hospital in West Point.
Surviving are his widow, five children mentioned above, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Herman Mahnke, Beemer; four sisters, (Ella) Mrs. Henry Young and (Amelia) Mrs. George Young, both of Beemer; (Rose) Mrs. August Doescher, West Point and (Esther) Mrs. Elmer Mars, Pilger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.hhw
