Ottis died at Heritage Nursing Home. Ottis parents, Andrew Jackson Sanders and Dora Ada Hinson Sanders. Ott married Mallie McCall Sanders on June 5, 1927, Mallie died in Lubbock, Lubbock County on May 21, 1991. Both are buried at Lorenz Cemetery in Lorenzo. There were no children.

Ott was born in a log cabin in Whitener Arkansas.
Ott graduated from Estacado Grammar School May 4, 1917 - Public High School (10th grade) Lorenzo April 16, 1920 - Lorenzo High School April 21, 1921 – Texas Technological Collage (Bachelor of Arts) August 25, 1932 - Teachers Permanent Certificate to teach all grades issued by The State of Texas Dept. of Education September 1, 1932 - Texas Technological Collage (Master of Arts) August 24, 1937.
Certificate of Approval for Superintendent and Principals list issued by The State Department of Education State of Texas August 7, 1936 - Texas Technological Collage (Division of Extension ) an A grade on the correspondence course in Agri. Eco. 325, January 30, 1946.

In 1963 Ott was the City Secretary of Idalou Texas and at one time was the secretary of one of the local cotton gins.
