Obituary - "Monroe M. Garner, 72 year-old Benton County farmer who lived at Faxon, died early Thursday morning of last week in a Paris hospital following a long period of ill health. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the Crooked Creek Methodist church, by the Rev. Albert Melton. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Garner was a member of the Methodist church and a Mason, was a leader in county political affairs, having served as a Justice of the Peace for 12 years.

He was married three times, first to Mrs. Donna Collier, after whose death he married Mrs. Lizzie Wheatley who lived for a few years. He was then married to Miss Rosa Pierce, who survives. A son by the first wife, G. Thurman Garner of Milan, L&N railroad agent, is now a patient in Nobles Memorial Hospital. Another son, John Garner, is a railroad dispatcher at Akron, Ohio"
