It was reported that between 235 and 250 vehicles were in the funeral procession and approximately 800 to 1000 persons attended.
Rev. Jerry Green, pastor of the South Winnfield Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Aaron Gorham. Burial was in the Cypress Creek Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Acting as pallbearers were Wesley Cockerham, Jim Rudd, Webb Hodges, Ozie Cockerham, Clifford Dean, and Leon Carpenter.
A native of Winn, Mr. Cockerham was a member of the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church and was a logging contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Francille Cockerham; two daughters, Jerry Francis and Janis Kay; three sons, Larry Lynn, Roy Glen, and James Calvin, all of Rt. 2, Dodson; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Bates, Winnfield; his mother, Mrs. Maggie Cockerham, Rt. 2, Dodson; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Lovell, Sr., Winnfield, and Mrs. W. E. Higgs, Rt. 2, Dodson.
