She married Johanne Immel Staudt in 1864. Nine children were born to the couple. In 1870, the family was living in the Live Oak Creek Settlement, Gillespie County, Texas, with their first three children, Rudolph, Johanne and Christian. They lived next door to Johanne's parents.
Anna died in Fredericksburg, Texas, in 1923, and was laid to rest in Saint Mary Cemetery next to her husband, who preceded her in death in 1910. She was survived by eight of her nine children.
