William Sebastian (Bill) Meyers, Jr., age 95, passed away on March 7, 2009.


Born June 13, 1913 in Brooklyn, New York to William Sebastian and Elizabeth L. Meyers.


Married Fay Williams on August 26, 1943 at Army Air Force Base, Camp Kearns, Utah.


Bill grew up in Brooklyn, New York, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. Before serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, Bill served as an American Seaman on two ships; the Orizaba going to Cuba and Mexico and on the ship Washington, that went to foreign countries. Before enlisting and serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed by Trade Bank & Trust of New York City.


In 1978, he retired as Assistant Vice-President after 32 years with First Security Bank of Utah; and also, worked many years as an accountant for the Utah Heart Association.


He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps throughout his years, also enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and especially liked playing "Which hand is the dollar in" with his great-granddaughters. He was an avid reader before developing Macular Degeneration in both eyes.


Survived by his wife, Fay, of 65 years; son, Bill III; two grand-daughters: Molly (Mark) Pettriess, Kathleen (Kevin) McPhail; and seven great-granddaughters Meg, Kamille, Teresa, Katelyn, Emily, Piper, Gwenivere; and one nephew, Jim Strella in New York. Preceded in death by daughter, Mary Beth Kavanagh Maynes; parents, and two sisters of Brooklyn, New York.


Funeral Services will be held in the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary Chapel, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. A viewing will be held before the service from 11:30- 12:45 p.m.
Interment and Full Military Rites will be held at the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street (700 East), Murray, Utah.
