Jack D. Buckner, 81, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Tuesday April 29, 2008, at his home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Cincinnati, a son of the late Asa "Jack" Buckner and Alta Mildred Hiser Buckner Mullins. On Nov. 18, 1967, he married Marie Walls, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Ben Buckner of Irvine, Calif.; one daughter, Teresa (Alvin) Cutright of French Creek, W.Va.; two grandsons, Ethan and Owen Cutright, both of French Creek; one granddaughter, Julia Cutright of French Creek; two stepsisters, Rose Livesay of Englewood, and Lou Mullins of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; hunting and fishing buddy, Bob Retterbush of Piqua, who kept him out of trouble; and several close cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Jim Mullins.

Mr. Buckner was a Postal Supervisor for U. S. Postal Service and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korean Conflict. He loved horse racing, poker, fishing, tennis and was an artist.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon, W. Va.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua.
